The Travel Media Association of Canada just wrapped up its conference in Yarmouth.
Over 200 delegates from across the country arrived here last Wednesday, and explored everything our region has to offer.
Donna Hatt, CAO of the association says many of the travel media had never been to this part of the province.
“Incredible opportunity for us as the Travel Media Association of Canada to celebrate this treasure in this international port of call for Nova Scotia, and our country,” says Hatt.
Hatt says articles will come out about Yarmouth and Acadian Shores over the next few months, and the impacts should be felt for the next two-to-three years.
Association President Tracy Ford says they like to move the conference around, but they’d love to come back to the East Coast.
“We’re going to go home with a feeling of getting to know the community of Yarmouth, and how wonderful everybody was.”
She says they got to do everything from a round of golf at the Yarmouth Links to axe-throwing in Barrington, along with a tour of the Bluenose II.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association Executive Director Neil MacKenzie says the immediate impacts are already being felt.
“The traditional impact that events have with room night sales and spin-off benefits to other sectors, but the real impact will be the media value, which will pay dividends for years to come.”
MacKenzie says everyone was super excited to be here, and it’s great to see them experience the Tusket Islands, Cape Forchu, all the museums and more that YASTA has to offer.
