Work on a new sidewalk is underway in the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth.
It’s being built on Highway 1 in Dayton.
Warden John Cunningham says it’s part of council’s strategic plan for active transportation.
“It’s very interesting times for the municipality, and we’re excited to get that installed for our high-traffic areas, so residents can walk safely off the road,” says Cunningham.
Traffic delays are expected, alternate routes are available through Greenville Road, Dayton Road and Lakeside Road.
Cunningham says it’s all going to be worth it in the end.
“Sometimes there’s 40 cars lined up waiting to get through, so yes there will be traffic delays. But sometimes delays mean progress for the future.”
There will also be sidewalks put in on Greenville Road and in Port Maitland through the summer.
