Grab a paint brush next Saturday and head to Yarmouth South Playground.
Yarmouth’s Deputy Mayor is bringing the community together on June 18th for a paint party.
Steve Berry says he’s heard concerns about vandalism at the skatepark and playground.
“Bathrooms were smashed up, and a lot of vandalism, and they wondered if there was something we could do. With constructive conversation, we came up with an idea to see if we could fix it up,” says Berry.
Berry says a true community meeting is needed to discuss long term plans of respect and upkeep of the playground.
“It’s a place that’s ours. We want to take it back from the negative that’s taken over the last little while. We hope there is a sense of pride and respect that comes with it, and the vandalism goes to an all-time low.”
He hopes many youth will take part in the painting day, which will begin at 10 a.m.
