A municipal boundary review is getting underway in the Municipality of Argyle.
A series of open houses will take place tonight and tomorrow, as staff will ask the public for feedback on if the current number of councillors and polling districts should be changed, or stay the same.
The review is mandated by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, and happens every ten years.
Warden Danny Muise hopes for big turnouts.
“These public consultations don’t’ usually bring out a lot of people, but it makes it easier for us to make a decision if we know what the public is looking for,” says Muise.
The first open house is tonight at 6:30 at the Wedgeport Fire Hall.
Muise says it’s the beginning of a long process, especially if changes are recommended.
“We’d have to explain to the UARB why we’re going the way we’re going, whether it’s reduction or status quo.”
Tomorrow, a virtual and in-person hybrid session will take place at the municipal building in Tusket at 2:30, then in the evening, another in-person session at the West Pubnico Legion.
