The Tri-County Women’s Centre is celebrating over 20 years of service.
They marked the occasion with an open house yesterday, with information about their programs and services.
Executive Director Trish McCourt thanked the community for their support through the years.
“We are really appreciative of the community and how the community supports us and the work that we do as well,” says McCourt. “We get a lot of referrals from all different sources but we also get support through private donations and people supporting our fundraisers. We really wanted to recognize that we wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without those supports.”
The centre evolved from a women’s economic development network that was doing work in the area.
McCourt discussed the work they’ve done over the years.
“It feels like we’ve made great progress in some areas and then in other areas it feels like as much as we’d like to work ourselves out of jobs we will probably always have jobs.”
