Yarmouth is closer to having its splash park.
It will be constructed at the Mariners Centre, and work is almost ready to begin.
Splash park Committee Chair Linda Gallagher says there will be a sod-turning ceremony on Friday at 12:30.
“Everyone is invited, and if you’d like to, bring a shovel. This is a community project and we want everyone involved. We’re hoping to have our splash park in operation by mid to late August,” says Gallagher.
The park will be going in on the Jody Shelley Drive side of the property.
Gallagher thanks the community for their support, as they’ve almost hit their fundraising goal of nearly $350,000.
“With COVID and some of the supply chain issues, our budget has gone up a bit. We just started fundraising last August, and thanks to the community support, we’re so close to our target.”
