Fire early this morning at the Bear River First Nation band hall.
The Bear River Fire Department responded around 1:20 a.m. to the fire on Reservation Road.
They arrived to find the three storey building fully engulfed.
The building was empty at the time and there were no injuries. Once the fire was extinguished, it was determined the building was a total loss.
Mutual aid was provided by the Digby, Smiths Cove, Annapolis Royal, Bridgetown and Lawrence Town departments.
Bear River Fire Chief David McCormick thanked the other departments for their help, adding its a great loss to the First Nations and community.
Digby RCMP are investigating the fire, believing it may be suspicious. The scene has been secured and the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted to assist with the investigation.
