A local campaign rally was held for Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill on Saturday.
He’s in the race to be elected leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.
In a speech, Churchill said Tim Houston’s Progressive Conservatives got elected on very specific healthcare promises.
“To bring 300 new doctors a year to the province and 2000 nurses. Since they’ve taken over, things have actually gotten worse. You can’t fix healthcare with COVID overrunning our hospitals,” said Churchill.
He says Premier Tim Houston promised to ‘fix’ healthcare, among other things.
“They are certainly adding a lot of debt to the province. That debt that my daughters are going to pick up someday. I think we can be a great alternative to this government, and provide answers to the problems people are facing.”
Churchill also pointed to strong support from Yarmouth in the last election, and thanked all the volunteers that helped in his campaign.
He’s up against Preston MLA Angela Simmonds for the Liberal leadership, which will be decided in July.
