A cruise ship is coming to Yarmouth next week.
The ‘Silver Cloud’ will sail into Yarmouth Harbour on Friday, May 13th at 10 a.m.
The luxury expedition cruise ship is making the stop as part of a cruise from Miami, Florida to Halifax.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association CEO Neil MacKenzie says passengers will get to see the best of the region.
“Local brewery tours with local operators, they’ll also be doing a heritage hike, which will feature our heritage district, local eateries and our museums. They’ll also be going on an expedition to Cape Forchu,” says MacKenzie.
The ship will be anchored off Cape Forchu, and passengers will be tendered in from there.
MacKenzie says it’s a great start to the tourism season, with the return of the ‘CAT’ ferry the following week.
“We were starting to welcome more cruise ships before the pandemic. This is a small step forward, and we hope that this market will grow for us, because it’s a great opportunity for a rural destination like ours.”
He says Yarmouth has a cruise ship operations certificate, and will look to welcome more ships this summer.
