A grand opening for a revitalized fitness centre in downtown Yarmouth this weekend.
Mariners on Main will host celebrations on Saturday at the facility on Main Street.
CEO Dorgam Hideib says it’s remarkable how quickly things came together before opening last October.
“In six months, we went from our municipal partners approving the project, to putting our plan together, to getting the work done and opening the doors mid-October. I can’t thank our staff enough for all their hard work,” says Hideib.
He says with COVID restrictions eased, they can now have a proper grand opening.
Hideib says the community is using the space well.
“From day one, we’ve seen parents and tots in the pool, we’ve seen youth in our spaces and seniors. Since the relaxing of restrictions it’s gotten even busier. We are thrilled and proud of what we’ve done to open this space.”
Saturday’s festivities include a ceremony, guided tours, public swims, fitness classes and more.
Entry is by a donation to the local foodbank.
