The Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit is now investigating a fatal house fire that took place in Pinkneys Point yesterday morning.
The RCMP are releasing more information about the fire. They say officers were able to locate two residents of the home, a 20-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, at another residence.
They’re not believed to have been in the home when the fire started, however a third resident was unaccounted for.
After the house fire was extinguished, human remains were found inside.
The investigation is continuing with help from the Office of the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal, the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Forensic Identification Section.
Yarmouth Rural RCMP and multiple fire departments had responded to the fire, finding the home fully engulfed in flames.
