Beverly Ware, Communications Coordinator for the NSLC says the launch of their delivery service was initially scheduled to begin in the Halifax Regional Municipality and Bridgewater on February 28th, however, some technical issues have delayed the launch.
She says they are hopeful to have those two locations up and running for delivery later this week.
“We are taking the website down tonight to try and figure some things out and I don’t want to promise anything but we are hopeful it will be up this week,” Ware said.
The NSLC is opting to start with only two delivery areas so they can test the effectiveness of the program. Ware says once the method is proven they will expand the service to all other mainland locations by the end of the year.
The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation appears to be starting up their long touted delivery service in the very near future.
It seems the NSLC may have been planning to launch the delivery service on February 28th, but currently, it is not operational.
The delivery portion of their website is active though it is surprisingly difficult to find considering it is a new service they are likely looking to promote. On the site where it prompts you for a postal code to confirm if your location is eligible despite what you enter you are unable to proceed.
Additionally NSLC locations around the province have been given promotional leaflets that were being handed out in some stores early on February 28th. The pamphlet’s cover reads “Home Delivery Now Available” indicating the service should have been active when they were being handed out.
The pamphlets also provide some details on how the service will work.
It says that responsibility is the top priority of the service and customers seeking delivery will be required to show ID to delivery drivers.
A selection of 400 products will be available for delivery, currently, only alcohol products are listed as eligible for delivery.
Orders of $150 or more will qualify for free delivery, orders less than that will carry a $12 delivery charge.
Orders will be delivered by MBW or Micco couriers and some select areas will be available in some areas.
The NSLC website does indicate it will be going down at 7 p.m. on February 28th for maintenance to their online ordering platform, though they did not explicitly make any mention of their delivery service in the maintenance notice.
