Some federal funding announced yesterday for our region.
Mariners on Main in Yarmouth is getting over $226,000 for repairs and upgrades through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund.
CEO Dorgam Hideib says it’s wonderful news for a very important space in the community.
“We’ve made electrical, mechanical, plumbing and IT upgrades, and we’ll use those funds to continue upgrading our facility to make sure it’s modern for years to come,” says Hideib.
The Yarmouth Splash Park will receive $75,000 toward their fundraising goal to open this summer.
Treasurer of the park Erin Burton-Ritchie says they applied for the grant last summer.
“It brings us over $300,000 and our budget is $349,000. We are getting very close to our goal,” says Burton-Ritchie.
The splash park will go at Mariners Centre along Jody Shelley Drive.
The Yarmouth Farmers Market received just under $35,000 to upgrade the market barn and gallery buildings to improve accessibility, heat retention and signage.
$200,000 was announced for upgrades to trails and amenities at Wentworth Park in Clare.
