Work at the Tusket Falls Main Dam refurbishment project has hit another snag.
Nova Scotia Power revealing to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board last month that water migration issues continue at the site.
The project to upgrade the hydro system to modern standards is already over three years behind schedule, and according to a report from the CBC, is expected to cost $36 million, which is double the original forecasted cost.
In July, NS Power said the refurbishment was scheduled for completion in early, 2023.
Water levels at the Lake Vaughn reservoir were lowered to their natural levels, as well as Kings and Gavel lakes to allow crews to work.
NS Power spokesperson Jacqueline Foster says they remain committed to completing the project as efficiently and cost effectively as possible for customers.
Foster says the company is continuing to evaluate what, if any, impact the ongoing issue might have in terms of cost and schedule.
An update will be provided to the UARB no later than January 31st.
