If you’re looking for a rapid COVID-19 test kit, you won’t find it at your local library.
Since December 13th, over 4,000 kits have been given out through Western Counties Regional Library branches.
Executive Director Erin Comeau says it’s been a hectic time.
“By Saturday (Dec 18th) most branches had run out of kits. It’s been a very busy time with people showing up, calling and e-mailing us to receive their kits,” says Comeau.
She says the only branch that had a few kits left as of Saturday was Digby, but those will be scooped up quickly.
Comeau says the pandemic has created a lot of changes on the fly.
“The government strategy changes in order for them to be able to deal with new cases coming through, and testing is a big priority. As they shift their focus, we have to shift with them.”
Comeau says they won’t be receiving any more kits until at least the new year, if at all.
She thanks all library staff for their hard work in distributing the kits.
