A local initiative making sure families don’t go hungry this holiday season.
It’s the second year for ‘Feed the Need’ in Yarmouth, which encourages donations from community members to help put Christmas dinner on the table for less-fortunate families.
Last year, nearly $10,000 was raised, and they’re hoping to hit that goal this year.
Yarmouth Deputy Mayor Steve Berry, who started the program last year, says Yarmouth is coming through again.
“Another testament to how great our community is. All the money raised comes from our area. People reach into their pockets and give whatever they can. It speaks to how generous our residents are,” says Berry.
This year, over 150 meals will be given out.
Berry says the deadline to donate and submit names is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6 p.m
You can contact him or visit Yarmouth Freshmart to make a donation.
The meals will begin to be delivered this Sunday.
