The Timber Cup is back at Mariners Centre this weekend.
The Yarmouth High Vikings and Par-en-Bas Sharks are co-hosting the annual boys high school hockey tournament.
It returns for the first time since 2019, as last year’s event was wiped out due to the pandemic.
Sharks coach Julien Boudreau says it’s exciting to be back.
“It’s great to be back on the ice at home in front our fans, families and friends. We’ll be battling for that elusive Timber Cup, which we haven’t got yet,” says Boudreau.
PEB will be searching for their first ever title, while Yarmouth high will be looking to win it for the first time in 10 years.
Clare, Digby, Avon View, Bay View and West Kings are also taking part.
The tournament underwent a name change a few years ago, many remember it as the Cook’s Cup.
Par-en-Bas Sharks coach Julien Boudreau says the trophy, a stainless-steel old fashioned milk jug, remains the same.
“Brian Bowers and the staff at Pleasant Supplies changed the main plaque on the front, but it’s still the original cup with all the names dating back to when it first started.”
Action starts Friday and continues through Sunday afternoon with the championship game.
