The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners are rolling.
After falling behind 2-0 early Friday at home against Valley, the Mariners scored the next four on their way to a 4-3 victory, their third win in three nights.
Cole Foston had his first as a Mariner, Sam Gillis, Reilly Mayne and Jonathan Park added goals. A.J. DiChiara made 22 saves for the win.
Mariners Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says he’s proud of his club.
“It’s a tough league to play a three-in-three with travel, no matter who you’re playing. I thought they were great. We lived on our powerplay and penalty kill on the road, and we got some timely scoring,” says Barron.
The Mariners are now in first place in the Eastlink South Division, three points ahead of the Amherst Ramblers. They’ve won four straight games.
Barron says his team rebounded well after the slow start against Valley.
“We got off to a bad start, but I thought physically we were fine. Mentally, we weren’t quite there. But after that, we were the club we know we can be. I thought we looked very good.”
The Mariners hit the road this weekend for two games, at Truro Friday and Valley Saturday.
