A Yarmouth woman says she wants to make sure no child is cold this winter.
Carmen Coffin began knitting hats last year to donate to schools, and she’s completed 250 in total.
Now, she’s involved in the Coats For Kids campaign, seeking to give 100 snowsuits to kids in need.
Coffin says she and Kathy McKibbon teamed up with Tusket Kia for the initiative.
“We have 50 snowsuits already and we need 53 more. We’re taking into account all the elementary schools in our area, plus Maple Grove, Par-en-Bas and Drumlin Heights,” says Coffin.
She says when the snowsuits go out to each school, 25 hats and 20 pairs of mittens will also be donated.
Coffin says it runs until December 10th, and they’re still in need of ladies and men’s small, medium and large jackets for the older students.
She says she’s already starting knitting hats for next year’s donations.
