I mention it every year, because as I grew up it was such a huge part of my life – I miss the Sears Wishbook. Every Christmas it showed up, and that’s when the anticipation really started. Which could be bad, because it showed up pretty early, as in early September.
We’d pour over those pages, bookmarking what we wished for. Whether we got it or not was another story, but hey, it WAS called a “Wish Book”, right?
The kids of today will never know that feeling when it arrived, and that makes me a little sad.
I fell upon this website a little while back. It’s American, so not all the memories are quite the same, but it’s a fascinating look back in time. The catalogues start at 1940 and run through 2017. There are Sears , JC Penny and Montgomery Ward catalogues.
