The Town of Yarmouth want to discuss what amalgamation would look like.
A motion was passed at last week’s meeting to send a letter to other municipalities in Yarmouth County and invite them to discuss what amalgamation would look like.
Mayor Pam Mood says it’s about starting a conversation.
“Until we know what it looks like, no decisions can be made. Let’s just come to the table, and get a peek at what the future could be,” says Mood.
She says she’s heard from a lot of residents who would support the idea.
Mood says she’d be open to it, as it would bring a lot of decisions in the area under one roof and at one table.
“I think, as a personal opinion, when you amalgamate, everything happens much more quickly and efficiently. We’d be a lot further ahead a lot faster. But that’s a conversation for us all to have.”
