Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team have released their report on the shooting death of a Yarmouth man in August.
SiRT says in June of this year, the Yarmouth/Clare RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit began investigating the man’s drug related activity.
On August 13th, officers obtained a search warrant for a residence on Carol Avenue. They made a no-knock hard entry of the residence just after 7 a.m.
SiRT says once inside the officers announced their presence and began searching the residence for the man.
A gunshot was heard. An officer moved toward the sound and found the man in a small bathroom on the main level of the home suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The officer administered first aid until paramedics arrived and pronounced the man deceased.
No Subject Officers were identified in SiRT’s investigation.
At the time of the incident, the RCMP said no one else was inside the residence.
