The Department of Fisheries and Oceans is giving lobster fishers some leeway for Opening Day.
They’ve approved an industry proposal to allow up to two days flexibility for the upcoming season’s opening date.
Last year, LFA 34 was plagued with delays due to bad weather.
This year, Opening Day for LFA 34 is scheduled for Monday, November 29th.
The Coldwater Lobster Association says the new policy could allow the season to start as early as Saturday, November 27th, if bad weather is forecasted for Opening Day.
Their first weather phone call will be held on November 24th.
