Fire tore through a barn on a property in Yarmouth County this morning.
Just before 7:30 a.m, the Yarmouth fire department responded to the blaze on Chebogue Road in Rockville.
Yarmouth Fire Chief Mike Deveau says the barn was completely in flames when career staff and volunteer arrived.
He says their focus shifted to protecting the house in front of the barn.
“There was a lot of heat coming toward the home. Firefighters switched from attack mode to protect the exposures, until we were able to establish a water supply,” says Deveau.
There were no injuries or animals inside the barn.
Firefighters were able to protect the home, and extinguish the blaze.
Deveau says the cause of the fire is not deemed to be suspicious at this time.
The Port Maitland and Lake Vaughn fire departments provided mutual aid, and RCMP were on scene for traffic control.
