Minor hockey games began over the weekend in the Yarmouth County Minor Hockey Association.
The Wade’s Wire Traps U15 AA Mariners defeated Valley 6-3 and lost to South Shore 7-1. Ashton Samms, scored twice in the win, Callum Longmire, Nixon Ross, Max Gates and Maxime d’Entremont also scored. Marcel Jacquard had four assists, Boston Aldred with two, Maxime d’Entremont, Sawyer Kristensen, Ashton Samms, Callum Longmire and Nixon Ross also had assists. Adam Bowie got the win in net. On Sunday, Callum Longmire had the goal with assists from Sam Murphy and Nixon Ross. Rylan LeBlanc was in net.
The East Side Fisheries U15A Mariners travelled to Barrington on Saturday to play the Shelburne Flames. The Mariners won 4-3. In net for the Mariners was Zander White. Scoring for the Mariners was Declan Fitzgerald assisted by Damien Cottreau, Damien Cottreau assisted by Declan Fitzgerald, Bryce Fitzgerald had 2 goals assisted by Cameron Nippard and Caden Duncan. On Sunday the Mariners hosted Clare winning with a shutout for Zander White. Scoring for the Mariners was Carter Amiro assisted by Andre Hill and Jaxon Churchill, Bryce Fitzgerald assisted by Cameron Nippard and Jaxon Churchill, Jaxon Churchill assisted by Lucas Cushing, Declan Fitzgerald assisted by Carter Amiro and Damien Cottreau.
The Pharmasave U13 AA Mariners opened their season with a 9-2 loss to Acadia and a 5-3 win over South Shore. In the loss, Jake Sanford and Ben LeBlanc scored, and Brody Symonds had an assist. In the win, Xavier LeBlanc had two goals, Tye Williams, Ben LeBlanc and Jayden d’Entremont also scored. d’Entremont also got an assist, as did Jacob Kim and Xavier LeBlanc.
The Culligan Water U13 A Mariners split their opening games, winning 8-5 in Lunenburg on Saturday against South Shore, then falling to Western Valley at home Sunday.
The U11 A Mariners won both of their games, 9-3 over South Shore and 7-4 against Clare/Digby. Ashton Boudreau had a hat-trick in the first game and Claire Wallace scored twice, other goals were from Jack Pelham, Connor Barnes, Jack Dease and Hayden Acker. In the second game, Claire Wallace had a hat-trick, Jayden d’Eon and Connor Barnes each scored twice.
