The Municipality of Argyle has a new strategic plan in place for the next five years.
The plan is built around staff and council’s vision for Argyle.
Warden Danny Muise says there are a number of goals, including driving economic growth and investing in alternative revenue.
“Most of our revenue we depend on is tax driven, but there are other ways. We have windmills in Pubnico that generate some revenue for us. We have the solar panels in Wedgeport and Pubnico where we sell the power to Nova Scotia Power,” says Muise.
Tourism is also mentioned, which includes investing and protecting Argyle’s unique heritage.
Muise says staff and council have made these goals attainable, and will serve as a guideline for decisions moving forward.
He says their goals needed a re-fresh.
“Our vision and our mission statements were outdated. It’s good to look at things over a five year period. Things change, and sometimes you need to make adjustments.”
The plan was developed by the firm Worldview Intelligence, and is available to view on the municipality’s website.
