It had become a Halloween Tradition in the Town of Yarmouth – the Monday before Halloween, children would dress in costumes and Parade down Main Street, and gather at the Grand Hotel for games and prizes.
Well it’s back, but with a few changes.
The Jack O’Lantern Parade is Monday, October 25th at 6:00pm, at Gateway Park, corner of William and Southeast Street. The parade will be on the track that encircles the field. The kids will line up and do a lap or 2 around the track. There will be music playing, photo areas, treat bags and more.
For the Pumpkin carving contest, please drop-off pumpkins from 5:00-6:00pm as they will be lighting the track with the entries. (Please light your pumpkin with a battery operated light). Photos and judging will happen on the Yarmouth Recreation Facebook page.
Parking is limited at Gateway Park and additional parking can be found at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
I spoke with Frank Grant of Yarmouth Recreation about the Parade and the Halloween Light drive which is also coming up:
The Halloween Light Drive is in it’s second year. For those wanting to do up their homes in a Halloween display, this is a really fun opportunity, and it will be great for those wanting to look these displays over.
If you want to decorate and register your property to put it on the map, you do it HERE. The deadline to register is end of day on Wednesday October 20th.
The map of the participating properties will be released on Friday October 22nd, and you can tour the houses located on the map until October 31st.
