‘Mariners on Main’ is officially open in downtown Yarmouth.
The aquatic and fitness facility is once again welcoming citizens for the first time since it was operated by the YMCA in early 2020.
The town purchased the building, and after funding from three municipal units, the Mariners Centre were tasked with operating the facility.
Major renovations, including re-opening the pool, were completed over the summer months.
Mariners Centre CEO Dorgam Hideib talks about the hours for their soft launch this weekend.
“We’re open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday we’ll be open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. What we’ve done is schedule our spaces for the community to access,” says Hideib.
Activities include swimming, fitness classes, basketball, pickleball, racquetball and more.
Hideib says admission is free until Sunday if you bring a non-perishable food item for the Yarmouth Food Bank.
“If not, it will be our regular drop-in rates. We hope people take the opportunity to make a contribution to our local food bank, explore our new spaces and have some fun.”
Tours are also being offered until regular hours begin on Monday.
