The Town of Digby’s former Provincial Visitor Information Centre building is ready for use.
The 1,000 square foot building and property was purchased by the town for $35,000 from the province, who upgraded it for use as a commercial space.
Digby’s Mayor Ben Cleveland says they’re seeking proposals from proponents for the long term lease of the building on Shore Road.
“We’re hoping it can become something that will benefit the community as a whole. Something new and unique, it could be tourist related, for example a Bay of Fundy experience centre,” says Cleveland.
He says proposals need to contain a five-year business plan, and information about the person or group.
Submissions are being accepted until October 28th.
Cleveland says the town spent about $40,000 in renovations, and they want to recover that cost for the taxpayers.
