A smoldering fire that created a lot of smoke and fumes led to the tragic death of a young Amherst family of six.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
It happened last Sunday inside a camper trailer on a remote property in Millvale in Cumberland County.
Obituaries posted online show funeral arrangements are underway for the young family. They will be laid to rest together in the Amherst Cemetery.
The information published by an Amherst funeral home says a service will be held on Friday to honor 30-year-old Robert “RJ” Jorge Sears, 28-year-old Michelle Elaine Robertson, 11-year-old Madison Anne-Marie Sears, 8-year-old Robert Sears, 4-year-old Jaxson Robertson, and 3 year-old Collin Justin Raymond Sears.
The obituary describes RJ as a dedicated dad whose children always came first. Michelle was a graduate of the nursing program at NSCC and had recently started working at Gables Lodge.
The writeup says the role she excelled at most was being a mom and she adored her children.
The service will take place at 1 p.m. from Victoria Square in Amherst, and will be livestreamed.
Donations have been coming in from across Canada to help with funeral costs.
