Belle Hatfield is Yarmouth’s newest town councillor.
She was one of three candidates in Saturday’s Special Election, who were vying for a seat on council.
The unofficial results gave Hatfield the victory with 1,067 votes.
Hatfield says she’s thrilled that voters saw her passion, but she still has work to do.
“Over 5,000 voters are registered in the Town of Yarmouth, and only just over 1,000 of them voted for me. I’m happy, but I’m mindful that I have to earn trust,” says Hatfield.
Don Berry finished second with 603 votes, and Tim Clayton received 193 votes.
There were five spoiled ballots, and a total of 1,868 votes, voter turnout was 35 per cent.
Hatfield will be sworn in before this Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
