The Nova Scotia 55+ Games are officially underway.
The opening ceremonies were held last night at Mariners Centre after a full day of games.
President of the games Terry Gilroy from Amherst tells us how things are going so far.
“Wonderful. The people, everywhere we’ve gone, be it a restaurant or a hotel are very accommodating and great to work with,” says Gilroy.
Nearly 700 participants are in the town for the three day event.
Gilroy says it’s been difficult planning the event around the pandemic.
“But we decided as a society that we could make it work. We’ve worked with the host committee and the government, and I think it’s worked out. You can see the excitement that everyone had tonight at the opening ceremonies.”
The games continue today and tomorrow.
