About 700 people are coming to Yarmouth and Acadian Shores this week.
Participants and family members will descent on the area for the Nova Scotia 55+ Games.
20 sports and activities will take place this Thursday to Saturday.
Yarmouth Recreation Director Frank Grant says this event has come a long way since the last time this area hosted the games in 2009.
“We were amazed by 400 participants back then, and in 2021, it’s almost double that amount. It will be lots of fun for our 55 and up age group,” says Grant.
Grant says several local athletes and participants will be taking part.
“These games are based on friendship, sportsmanship and camaraderie. Yes, there are gold, silver and bronze medals, but I think the idea of sportsmanship really takes over for these games.”
He says many of the participants will play hockey and pickleball at Mariners Centre.
