The expansion of the Mariners Centre is being talked about on the federal election campaign trail.
Yesterday, Conservative party leader Erin O’Toole announced they would commit to the completion of the project in Yarmouth, saying the community has been waiting far too long for the necessary investments to meet local needs.
O’Toole says a Conservative government would be a true federal funding partner for the project, to serve the needs of the community, and make life better for residents.
West Nova MP Conservative candidate Chris d’Entremont says the party has a good system that identifies projects that different regions need.
“This one was identified as extremely important. I’m very happy that the leader could come out and support it to show our commitment to Nova Scotia. There have been a number of governments that said they’ll work for this project, but we want to be a government that actually does it,” says d’Entremont.
In an interview with Y95 News last week, Liberal West Nova MP candidate Alxys Chamberlain called it an important project, and said she would advocate for that funding both federally and provincially.
