The CAT Ferry has announced that service between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Bar Harbor, Maine will resume in Spring 2022.
The Bay Ferries run vessel has not sailed since the summer of 2018. Construction on the Bar Harbor ferry terminal cancelled service in 2019, while the pandemic shuttered the ferry in 2020 and 2021.
Despite stating that it remains unclear when the international border will be open for travel, the ferry says they will restore service between destinations next spring.
They also say restarting the international ferry route will require substantial upfront investments which is impossible to cover in a very short season.
A contract between the province and Bay Ferries for the ferry service runs through the 2025 operating season.
