It’s time to race in Barrington on Sunday.
The 50th Nova Scotia Marathon will run through the area and Cape Sable Island.
About 500 participants are taking part in different events, with staggered start times to avoid large crowds.
Barrington Recreation Coordinator Misty James is encouraging those who live along the race route to cheer on the competitors.
“We’re asking you to put out some Nova Scotia flags, maybe make signs and show your support. We’re not allowed to have spectators at the finish line, so to encourage runners along the route, it’s almost even better,” said James.
She says the main road along Cape Sable Island is a great place to watch the race.
James thanks all the volunteers and businesses that are supporting the event.
“From the community, Ground Search and Rescue, the Woods Harbour/Shag Harbour Volunteer fire department, we thank them all so much and we couldn’t do it without them.”
The marathon begins at 7 a.m.
