I’ve been interested in policies for as long as I can remember! When I was a kid election night was like the Super Bowl in my house and it still is. One thing I’ve never understood is why candidates still feel the need to put signs everywhere. Ok, I get that they want to advertise themselves but do they really need that many signs? Some put them everywhere! Then there is the other point that people like to put them on their lawns to show support, but as the old saying goes “signs don’t vote, people do!”
Another reason they don’t make sense to me, is they are a waste. They get used for a few weeks and then are thrown out. Seems like a big waste of material, money and time. Plus those signs end up in landfills forever! To be fair, it seems like many candidates this election are holding back on the signs and are going more toward word of mouth or other types of advertising like digital. I understand that the people who make the signs probably really depend on election times for steady work so that’s something that should be taken into consideration too! Maybe instead of signs they could make decals or stickers?
What do you think? Do you think there is much point in having election signs everywhere? What could the candidates do instead?
