In my opinion there is nothing better than the Crunch of a Homemade Pickle on a cold winters day or the taste of Chow Chow on your fish cakes.
Just those 2 items bring back memories of my mom and grandmother making pickles and chow in the kitchen when I was a kid , sometime the smell of the vinegar when you walked in the kitchen could be overwhelming but the end product was always satisfying .
Pickles and Preserves were an item always found in our pantry growing up.

I am a fan of Dill Pickles but do admire the crunch and taste of Sweet , bread & butter pickles as well.
Just recently I tried to Pickle Carrots and some beans , they turned out pretty good, a crunchy Dill Carrot ? Don’t knock it till you give it a try.
I have also had the pleasure of trying Mustard Carrots and Mustard Beans , mighty tasty too.
