Lots of activities are being offered through Yarmouth Recreation this summer.
It wasn’t known a few months ago if in-person activities could resume at all during the busiest time of the year for outdoor recreation.
With restrictions easing, Recreation Director Frank Grant says it’s been an active summer.
“Things are moving in the direction that we want to head in. For sport and recreation, we see the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Grant.
Grant says many minor sport organizations are using the ball and soccer fields, canoe and kayaking is going well at Lake Milo, and even pickle ball is being played inside Anthony Pavilion at Mariners Centre.
“It’s a great activity that’s becoming more and more popular. We introduced it at local gyms, but Mariners Centre were eager to get some activity going inside Anthony Pavilion. So we put some lines down and went from there.”
Pickle ball is being offered Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30, as well as Wednesday mornings at 9 for beginners.
Grant says summer day-camps and sports camps are keeping lots of youth active, and they have some special events planned.
He says keep an eye on the Yarmouth Recreation Facebook page to stay updated.
