Tonight, a public participation meeting will take place through the Municipality of Yarmouth.
Citizens will get to have their say on a proposed amendment to the Municipal Planning Strategy, which would allow more types of aquaculture activities.
The considered change would be the first, in a number of processes to consider a new land based salmon farm, in Chebogue Point.
Many fishing industry representatives protested the amendment last week outside the municipal office in Hebron, saying there’s too much risk to the industry, environment and wildlife in the area.
Tonight’s meeting will be held virtually beginning at 6 p.m.
