Brigadoon Village is Canada’s largest medical pediatric facility. Through unique camp programs delivered in a safe, medically supported environment, Brigadoon supports kids coping with a wide array of health situations, ranging from cancer to bereavement. Their camp fee structure is based on a “pay what you can” model – they ask parents to contribute what they can afford. The average amount a family contributes is $300 of the $1300 it costs to send a kid to camp.
Therefore, Brigadoon Village depends heavily on donors to help fund their programs.
You can find more information about Brigadoon Village on their website HERE.
For the second year, Lifesaving Society NS and Brigadoon Village are organizing Brigaswim, a fundraising event that helps these Children.
I spoke with Paul d’Eon, the Director of the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service about Brigaswim, and how everyone can get involved.
All you have to do is pick the length you want to swim (1, 3 OR 5 km), the place you want to swim (locally it’s happening at Lake Ellenwood, Lake Milo or Stoney Island) and pick the day you want to do it (It runs from August 15th through the 21st).
