A by-election to fill the Yarmouth town council seat left by the late Jim MacLeod will take place on September 18th.
Council voted to go ahead with the by-election last night, it will be done electronically and by phone.
Voting will open September 9th with the advanced poll.
Mayor Pam Mood says it would be hard to fill MacLeod’s shoes.
“He was one of a kind, but there are so many people out there that bring something special to the table. We’re looking for great candidates to put their name in,” said Mood.
She says the public will decide what they’re looking for in a candidate, and she’s hopeful the next councillor will be a great addition to the table.
“We have a great council. We don’t always agree on the issues, but we disagree respectfully, which is tremendously important.”
Nomination day will be August 24th.
