The Island Traps Sherose Island Schooners won their first two games of the Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League season yesterday.
They faced the defending champion Windsor Knights in a doubleheader at the Sherose Island Ballpark.
The Schooners took the first game 12-2 in just six innings, because of the ten run rule. Ty Ross was two for five with two RBI and two stolen bases, and Justyn Newell allowed just two runs over five innings, with five strikeouts and four walks. Tristan Reede pitched the top of the sixth, giving up two hits.
The Schooners shutout the Knights 2-0 in the second game. Jeff Ross pitched a complete game, giving up just five hits and striking out two. Ethan Brannen hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to drive in the second run.
Sherose Island will travel to Amherst on Saturday and Pictou on Sunday for their next games.
