An update on when the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Western Branch could re-open.
The building on Main Street has been closed since before the pandemic began, when smoke from the ventilation system caused damage.
Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill says the province is looking at early July for a re-opening.
“Government has been working with the Art Gallery to make sure that happens. We’re really looking forward to getting people in there again, and for people to see the incredible art and facility we have here in Yarmouth.”
In March, the provincial government directed the Art Gallery Board to make sure the doors open as soon as possible. The province has provided funding.
Churchill says having the Art Gallery open is important for tourism in our region.
The Visitor Information Centre will also be co-located in the building this summer.
