The Auditor General’s report on the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation has found it does not have clear policies in place for the sale, pricing, and promotion of its products.
Kim Adair-MacPherson’s report marks the second phase in the performance audit of the NSLC and was released to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly on Tuesday.
Adair-MacPherson found the NSLC does not have clear procedures to determine what products it sells and promotes, how to price its merchandise, or where to display it in stores.
She also found the corporation lacks formal job descriptions for several management level employees in their customer strategy division, which is responsible for the product selection process.
Overall, Adair-MacPherson says the conclusions were mainly positive, finding the NSLC manages its physical inventory well and has good processes in place to account for damaged and expired products.
The 22-page report makes 11 recommendations for the Board of Directors, including developing policies to monitor pricing and to document procedures for product selection.
