The Town of Digby has a plan for a pair of old parking meters.
They will be turned into ‘kindness meters’ to help local organizations with fundraisers.
Mayor Ben Cleveland says Councillor Paul Saulnier brought the idea up a few months ago.
“There are a lot of parking meters being replaced. We replaced ours in Digby 30-40 years ago. You see a lot of meters in Halifax being replaced because of electronic parking. So the question is, what do you do with those meters?”
Cleveland says the meters will be mobile, and certain groups can ask to use the meter for a period of time.
He says the meters will be dressed up to draw people in, so they can find out what the organizations are all about.
Cleveland adds, he’s hoping to see the Atlantic Bubble return this summer, so the meters can be in highly visible areas.
