A small tax increase for Town of Yarmouth residents.
Council approved a one cent increase in the tax rates as the operational budget was passed at last night’s meeting.
The residential rate is now $1.67 per $100 of assessment, and the commercial rate is $4.29 per $100 of assessment.
Mayor Pam Mood says it’s a minor increase, and the funds (over $42,000) will go to the Mariners Centre expansion project.
She says for example, the increase would be $12 a year on a $125,000 home.
The budget came in at just over $18 million, with a $30,000 surplus.
