The Head Coach and General Manager of the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners says he’s proud of his team.
Laurie Barron says it’s heart wrenching to see the playoffs cancelled in the MHL for the second straight year.
Yarmouth had finished first in the Eastlink South Division for the fourth season in a row.
Barron says he feels bad for his players, most of all.
“Especially for the 20 year olds, it’s heartbreaking. We had a championship hockey club, and to see it not finish is devastating.”
Barron says his focus now turns to getting his players home safely.
He says five of his eight 20 year old players have committed to university hockey for next season, and he wants to make sure all eight have a chance to play next year.
He thanked his staff and the fans for supporting the team this season.
