Provincial volunteer of the year winners are being formally recognized today.
The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth’s Volunteer of the Year is Mike Randall.
He’s being recognized for his work as chair of the Mariners Centre Management Authority, a position he stepped down from last year.
Randall logged a lot of hours, and helped navigate the facility through the early stages of the pandemic.
He says it was a total shock to receive the award.
“Certainly it is an honour and a privilege to be nominated, not only to inspire others but to inspire myself to never give up, and carry forward in different capacities”
Randall says his parents were well known volunteers, and they instilled that in him from a young age.
He and the other provincial volunteer of the year winners are being honoured today in a virtual conference.
