A national ‘Hope Garden’ project has begun in Yarmouth through Communities in Bloom.
It involves gardeners planting yellow flowers, the international colour of hope, and there are potential national awards to be won.
Normally, Communities in Bloom would be able to have a symposium, but that hasn’t been possible due to the pandemic.
CiB President and town councilor Heather Hatfield says it’s all about optimism for the future.
“The goal is for people to plant yellow, because that’s the colour of hope. And to spread hope. We have some annual flowers that are yellow, but we don’t have a lot. We’d like to see more of that.”
In keeping with the theme, some new yellow benches have been placed in locations across town, constructed by the Kaye Nickerson Centre.
The benches display the message ‘Hope is Growing.’
